What is it?A grandiose, purpose-built resort founded by 18th-century architect James Burton, who had developed large areas of Bloomsbury and Regents Park. St Leonards initially attracted artists and writers including Turner and Rossetti, as well as the super-rich but declined sharply in the 1980s and 1990s. This century its been undergoing a revival of which many seaside towns can only dream!
